Biography

Simon Walsh is a Thoracic Radiologist and National Institute of Health Research Clinician Scientist working at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, London. He is also a Machine Learning scientist. His research interests include diagnosis and outcome prediction in pulmonary fibrosis and the application of artificial intelligence to image analysis and computer vision. He regularly lectures on the imaging of diffuse lung diseases, both nationally and internationally and is widely published. Dr Walsh is an Associate Editor of the European Respiratory Journal, Academic Imaging Lead for several international idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis registries and Cofounder and Imaging Lead for a global imaging repository for fibrotic lung disease imaging aimed at promoting machine learning research in pulmonary fibrosis, called The Open Source Imaging Consortium. He is also the founder of an early stage startup, Euclidean Diagnostics which focuses on developing novel computer-based medical imaging analysis technologies.
